EXODUS FROM SHAME
EXODUS FROM SHAME
What fear he had as a "boy"
Searching for reasons
why it was so confusing.
A dollhouse was appealing
but god is spiteful
and her knife is sharp
When she saw themself
The grip grew tighter
A pull away and a hand of grace
The tethers forever reaching
He broke away
Their remnants eluding
they adorned her skirt
A new life was brewing

Exodus from Shame is a visual poem and a deeply personal expression of my journey as a queer individual. Its imagery symbolizes the emotions I experienced while exploring and embracing this part of my identity. Becoming part of LGBTQ+ communities was an integral step in understanding myself and discovering how I fit within the broader world.
